Last year was a big year for our backyard – we build a new deck! Combine that with the epic play set my parents gifted Annie for her second birthday and we had the opportunity to transform our backyard into a toddler’s dream. A quick trip to Target and the transformation was complete. A Minnidip splashpad and pool turned our deck into a full fledged waterpark by the first hot day of Spring.

My kids are known for being a little rough on the equipment, so I was seriously impressed to see that the pool and splashpad combo made it the entire summer without popping. That’s got to be some kind of a record! The whole setup really saved me, especially since Lou was so young. Packing up to go to the real splashpad was always the biggest ordeal, and we couldn’t stay too long before the baby needed to be fed and take a nap out of the sun. With this, I could take care of both at the same time.

So naturally, when I saw that Minnidip pools were officially back at Target, I jumped on the opportunity to get us another one. With Lou standing on her own, we’re bound to have twice the fun in it this summer!

Designing a Mackenzie Childs-Inspired Outdoor Space For Summer

I love the look of classic check pieces from Mackenzie Childs, and they even have outdoor furniture pieces. But let me be real with you – I will never pay over $1000 for an herb planter. Even if I had all the money in the world, I just don’t think I could ever bring myself to make that move. Thankfully, it’s pretty easy to achieve that high-end, grandmillennial look with some Walmart finds. It can be kind of tricky to find the good stuff at Walmart. For some reason, a lot of the higher end brands are really buried on their website. But if you know where to look and what to look for, it’s a goldmine.

I did the legwork for you by finding some Mackenzie Childs inspired decor pieces and outdoor furniture at crazy reasonable prices. Shop the entire setup on my LTK!
