Warm weather has been teasing us every couple of days. That’s the funny thing about Eastern North Carolina – you can be enjoying a walk on the waterfront, sunny and 65. And then, boom, the next day is filled with freezing rain. You never really know what you’re going to get. But just like I did around Christmas, I’m hoping I can will the new season to come by filling my house with little Spring things.
How do you update your decor for Spring without completely redecorating your house?
I’m very methodical about my throw pillows. Do you remember the trivia episode of Friends when Chandler and Joey are prompted to remember all of Monica’s towel categories? (“Fancy, guest, fancy guest, and… eleven?”) I’m like that with my throw pillows. I have Fall, Christmas, Winter, and Warm Weather pillows. Clearly, they don’t follow the seasons exactly. The entire space has a tendency to change when you just swap out the decor around the biggest piece of furniture in the room.
When I think of transitioning decor for Spring, I think of putting away all the plush wools and knits. Then I introduce new textures like linen, cotton, rattan, jute, and seagrass. Plus, bright vases to keep fresh flowers on hand are essential. I kill every plant I touch, so house plants are not an option for me. And I don’t have any shame when it comes to fake plants.
Everything from this Spring decor update is from TJ Maxx, and most of these items are under $30. I’m all about balling out on a budget. I hope you enjoy!
